Plastic surgeon and 'Vampire Filler' Dr. Julio F. Gallo has pioneered the use of blood to treat aging of the face, finding a unique way to circumvent the use of potentially harmful chemicals, such as Botox and Restylane, reports the Daily Mail.
The technique, in which a small amount of blood is extracted from the patient's own body and passed via a tube connection to a machine where it's briefly exposed to UV light, is redirected into the bloodstream at the areas of concern.
There is little side effect of the new surgery as the patient’s blood is used, compared Botox which could be chemically reacted, causing hurt to the face.
The technique had often been used to treat patients who get emergency surgery. However, Galo has succeeded in applying it to plastic surgery with high tech.
However, the “Vampire plastic surgery” has its own defects. It is difficult to maintain youth with one injection of blood. Patients have to receive surgery with blood extracted in three to six months after the first surgery.
However, it is far safer and cheaper than Botox as there appear no side effects. The surgery takes about 20 minutes.
Although the surgery can change the shape of face, it can remove wrinkle and keep skin tone up, making those in their 60 years to those sexy in their 30s.
'뱀파이어 성형술'가 ‘보톡스’ 대체할 듯
영화 '뱀파이어'에서 힌트를 얻은 한 의사가 영원한 젊음을 유지할 수 있는 성형술을 개발, 대박을 쳤다.
주인공은 미국 플로리다주의 훌리오 갈로. 성형외과 전문의인 갈로는 환자의 피를 뽑아 이를 얼굴에 수혈, 피부노화를 방지하는 신기술을 개발해냈다.
시술방법은 의외로 간단하다. 환자의 몸에서 뽑아낸 피는 특수금속으로 제작된 튜브를 지나면서 자외선에 잠깐 노출된다. 이 피를 얼굴 등 환자가 원하는 신체부위에 수혈하면 피부가 젊음을 유지하게 된다는 것이다.
보톡스는 화학반을을 일으켜 자칫 얼굴을 망쳐놓기 일쑤지만 갈로의 시술은 환자 자신의 피를 사용하는 것이어서 부작용이 거의 없다.
이같은 테크닉은 응급수술환자의 빠른 치유를 위해 흔히 사용되는 것으로 갈로가 이를 첨단기법으로 성형에 응용, 성공한 것이다.
그러나 '뱀파이어 성형술'도 단점은 있다. 한번 수혈로 영원한 젊음을 유지하기가 어렵다는 것. 환자는 3~6개월 후 다시 피를 뽑아 성형을 해야한다는 불편함이 있다.

그래도 아직까지 부작용이 드러나지 않아 보톡스 주사보다 훨씬 안전하고 또 비용도 저렴하다. 시술도 20분이면 끝난다.
얼굴 모습을 바꿔 놓을 수는 없지만 주름살을 제거, 늘 팽팽한 피부를 유지할 수 있어 60대도 30대처럼 섹시하게 만든다는 것이다.
